Brimming with imagination and technical excellence, the Akropolis Reed Quintet is on the move, touring Oklahoma next week with educational outreach and a concert of new works for reed quintet at the University of Tulsa, and a full day of activities culminating in an evening concert at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Next month, Akropolis offers a special educational tour of Indiana under the auspices of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association, part of their prize as the winners of the 2015 Fischoff Educator Award. (Akropolis also won Fischoff’s Gold Medal in 2014.)  On the tour, they will be offering master classes, outreach programs, and much more – all part of their larger mission to share music and engage new listeners.

Akropolis also engages new audiences with their excellent Web Premiere Series, through which they have offered online video premieres of new works and new arrangements.  The newest premiere, released just last month, is a vibrant performance of a new arrangement (by Akropolis’ bassoonist, Ryan Reynolds) of Charles Ives’s impishly joyful “Variations on America.”
