Since its spectacular success at the ARD International Competition in 2012 – in which the Armida Quartet won first prize, the audience prize, and six other awards – the young, Berlin-based string quartet has launched its career into the stratosphere.

Winning a coveted spot as a BBC New Generation Artist from 2014-2016 (watch their NGA introductory video here), the Armida Quartet has recently been nominated by the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg as one of the “Rising Stars” of the European Concert Hall Organisation, an honor that comes with an extensive 2016/2017 tour through the most prestigious and historic concert halls of Europe.

With repertoire interests that extend from Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert to Kurtág, Berg, and Jörg Widmann, the Armida Quartet approaches every score with the same newness of mind, exploring the composer’s intentions with no preconceptions.  Their programming demonstrates their joyous spirit in discovering musical conversations across centuries and their passion to invite audiences to join the dialogue.

The Armidas look forward to a busy summer of concerts, including festival appearances at Hindsgavl,BelleriveCheltenham, and the Internationales Musikfest Kreuth, as well as concerts at Wigmore Hall and BBC Proms.

Widely known for their “absolute dedication to the music” and already recognized as “one of the today`s greatest chamber music groups” (Hamburger Abendblatt), Ariel Artists is thrilled to welcome the sensational Armida Quartet to the roster for bookings in the U.S. and Canada.
