Ariel Artists is proud to announce this week the addition of the incredible Meehan/Perkins Duo to our ever-expanding roster of artists! The percussion duo of Todd Meehan and Doug Perkins have so far already released two critically-acclaimed albums. Travel Diary features commissioned works from Paul Lansky and David Lang, plus electro-acoustic pieces by Nathan Davis and Tristan Perich, while Restless Endless, Tactless – Johanna Beyer and the Birth of American Percussion Music offers an authoritative look at some of the earliest American works written for percussion from composers like Henry Cowell, Gerlad Strang, and Harold Davidson.

Restless, Endless, Tactless was greeted with particular awe, Fanfare Magazine proclaiming:  “This is a must-hear for anyone remotely interested in the development of music in the past century and is strongly recommended.”

This is a very busy group. Over the past month and a half, the Meehan/Perkins Duo gave the world premiere of Jonathan Leshnoff’s Concerto for Two Percussionists and Orchestra at the International Festival-Institute at Round Top (TX), ran the Chosen Vale International Percussion Seminar, performed in So Percussion’s International Night of Awesome(ness), and are about to coach/perform at SoSI 2012 and give a duo recital at the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival.

On top of that, the Meehan/Perkins Duo joins The Guidonian Hand in winning a coveted Chamber Music America commissioning grant award!  (More news on this later). For now, we welcome you to take some time to explore the offerings of the Duo on their Artist Page here, as well as their official website.

We’re so looking forward to working with this group!
