We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that two of our artists have received Chamber Music America grants this year for new commissions!  The Meehan/Perkins Duo, our percussion duo who have just recently joined the roster entering into this next season, received their grant for a new piece from renowned electro-acoustic composer Tristan Perich.

Perich has built a reputation on composing and building installations for 1-bit electronics, including the works Machine Drawings and 1-bit Video. His music can be found on the Cantaloupe Records releases 1-Bit Music, an actual microcomputer encased in a CD jewel case that performs the music through a headphone jack.  Cantaloupe also caries Perich’s 1-Bit Symphony.

Meehan/Perkins will be offering Perich’s “Observations” next season along with the newly-commissioned work, planned as a 50-minute musical event combining acoustic percussion, 8-channel 1-bit electronics, and gated amplification.
