Described by Sergio Assad as “the most inventive and exciting young guitar ensemble today,” Mobius Trio‘s mission is to use the most popular, ubiquitous instrument in the world — the guitar — to create a new lexicon of music; one that freely combines the varied influences of musicians who grew up with unfettered access to the world’s entire musical library.

Mobius began the month in the recording studio, laying down tracks by composer/collaborator Nick Vasallo (check out a gorgeous video from the session) for an upcoming album, Bon Voyage, which will also feature new works by Samuel Adams, Adrian Knight, Mario Godoy, and Joseph M. Colombo.

Next week they head out on an East Coast tour, performing for the Original Gravity series at the Blue Hill Brewery in Boston, offering student composer readings and coachings at Clark University, and performing a Thanksgiving concert at New York City’s (le) Poisson Rouge (join the Facebook event here).

Looking forward, Mobius embarks on a tour of the United Kingdom, with dates at the University of Surrey and elsewhere (more on this soon).
