Berlin Counterpoint can offer themselves as a “guinea pig” for a composition department. They understand that their instrumentation is not the easiest to compose for, and are committed to encourage young composers to continue to build up the repertoire and to continue to be excited by wind and piano music. They would invite student composers to write short pieces, or fragments of pieces to workshop alongside their professors. This could be an invaluable opportunity to test what can work or not work with this collection of instruments, what doesn’t make sense idiomatically for the players as well as practical questions of how a group could rehearse and perform a piece in a timely manner.
